School Attendance Officer - Temporary

Job Goal: To monitor and improve student attendance by working closely with school administrators, teachers, and families to ensure that students attend school regularly and are on track for academic success.
Reports To: Principal
Supervises: None
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitors daily attendance for all students.
- Works with school administrators and teachers to identify students with attendance issues.
- Contacts families to discuss attendance concerns and provides support to improve attendance.
- Works with school counselors and social workers to identify and address underlying issues that may contribute to poor attendance.
- Develops and implements strategies to improve student attendance, including incentives, recognition programs, and interventions.
- Maintains accurate attendance records and provides regular reports to school administrators and district officials.
- Collaborates with community organizations to provide resources and support for families and students.
- Attends meetings and professional development opportunities related to attendance and student success.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university in education, counseling, social work or a related field with at least one (1) year of related experience. Experience working with K-12 students and families, preferably in an education setting.
- Knowledgeable of attendance policies and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Possesses strong organizational and time management skills.
- Possesses the ability to analyze data and develop strategies for improving attendance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
Physical Requirements
Requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force frequently constantly.
Terms of Employment
Ten month year. Salary as recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board.
