Now Hiring: Scaffolding Helper - Shipyard Operations Location: Jacksonville, FL Company: NSC Staffing NSC Staffing is hiring Scaffolding Helpers to support shipyard operations in Jacksonville, FL. This position requires physically capable, safety-conscious individuals with experience working in industrial or marine environments. Position Overview: As a Scaffolding Helper, you will assist with the erection and dismantling of scaffolding structures aboard vessels and in shipyard environments. You'll also support staging, loading/unloading of materials, preventive equipment maintenance, and other assigned general labor tasks-all while following strict OSHA and company safety procedures. Key Responsibilities: • Assist with scaffold erection and dismantling at shipyard job sites • Move, load, and unload scaffolding materials (including inbound and outbound inventory) • Perform forklift preventive maintenance (PMs) and communicate equipment issues • Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures when not operating equipment • Maintain clean work areas and ensure proper staging of materials • Perform quality checks to ensure no damaged product is used or sent out • Stock parts and materials in correct bins or staging locations • Observe and comply with all OSHA safety standards and PPE requirements • Complete office or administrative tasks when requested • Follow supervisor instructions and work both independently and within a team • Ability to work any shift and perform overtime as needed • Perform other related duties as assigned Skills & Qualifications: • 1-3 years of relevant experience in shipyard, construction, or industrial settings • Ability to follow verbal, written, or diagrammed instructions • Familiarity with scaffold materials, sizes, conditions, and basic trade terminology • Ability to work in confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and at heights over 12 feet • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills • Must be able to communicate effectively and follow directions without constant supervision • Must comply with NSC Staffing's Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy Physical Requirements: • Lift/push/pull up to 50-100 lbs occasionally and 20+ lbs frequently • Climb stairs, scaffolding, and ladders safely; stand, kneel, squat, crawl, and bend for prolonged periods • Ability to work at varying levels (waist, eye, overhead) • Must have good balance, hand coordination, and grip strength • Must tolerate extreme hot/cold environments and humid shipboard conditions • Enter 18 x 36 confined space openings and work inside for extended periods • Wear and safely operate all required PPE: hard hat, steel toe boots, respirator, safety glasses, harness, etc. • Work in elevated positions including ladders, scaffolds, and manlifts • Use hearing and visual acuity to follow verbal and non-verbal instructions Note: DBIDS is required for access to certain work areas. Candidate must be eligible to obtain DBIDS credentials. Work Environment: Work is conducted in varied environments including vessels, shipyards, and outdoors. Employees may be exposed to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, elevated surfaces, wet and humid conditions, extreme heat or cold, and confined spaces.
