Summary:
The Hershey Company Hazleton plant is a union facility producing products such as Cadbury, Milk Bars, Almond Bars, Extra Dark Bars, Caramel Bars, Candy Coated Eggs, and Kit Kat, in a high-speed environment. Under the supervision of the Sr. Sanitation Specialist, the Sanitation Team Leader oversees sanitation processes and staff, completing routine sanitation tasks as outlined below.

$31.20/hour starting pay rate

Shift:
Currently on Continuous Operations Schedule (COS) nights, from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am. Flexibility to work weekends, overtime, and holidays is required. New hires will train on first shift for 30-60 days before transitioning to the assigned schedule.
Candidate Process:
Qualified applicants will undergo a 60-minute onsite interview followed by a 20-minute facility tour. A post-offer drug screen and background check are required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and work alongside sanitation staff, providing direction and support.
- Ensure personnel are qualified, trained, and motivated.
- Coordinate daily interactions between sanitation and other departments, including across shifts.
- Maintain sanitation records and submit them monthly.
- Support CAPA processes and hygienic design improvements.
- Communicate effectively with team members.
- Support operational initiatives like Lean Manufacturing's Rapid Change Over.
- Ensure availability of tools, supplies, and equipment for sanitation tasks.
- Lead training for new sanitation team members.
- Oversee sanitation of production lines and facilities per the Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Lead cleaning verification and validation programs.
- Support allergen cleaning and control measures.
- Manage staffing for line cleaning and routine sanitation.
- Report equipment issues and collaborate with repair contractors.
- Partner with vendors and support general maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment such as floor scrubbers, steamers, ice blasters, hand sprayers, and vacuums.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Flexible to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- At least 3 years of sanitation experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of safety, sanitation, GMPs, HACCP, microbiology, chemical safety, and quality systems.
- Familiarity with GFSI and SQF standards, and relevant regulations (FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA).
- Strong problem-solving and auditing skills.
- Effective communication with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Knowledge of Environmental Monitoring is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Climb ladders and steps, work at high and confined locations.
- Lift up to 50 lbs and carry items weighing up to 20 lbs.
- Use all required tools and equipment effectively.
