The Office of Public Health is seeking a dynamic Sanitarian 6 to serve as the Assistant Administrator for the Food and Drug Program, a pivotal role driving the management, development, and enforcement of vital statewide programs. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current Louisiana Sanitarian's license plus one of the following, which must include one year of experience at the supervisory level or above: Five years of experience as a sanitarian; OR A master's degree in public health, food science, dairy science, environmental or sanitary science, or one of the physical or biological sciences plus four years of experience as a sanitarian. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in the Molluscan Shellfish program require that applicants complete the Louisiana Boating Education program and be certified by the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: • Lead and manage multiple statewide Sanitarian Services programs within the Specialty Operations Division, including Commercial Body Art, Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Tanning, Drug and Cosmetics, Bottled Water, Ice Vending, and Water Vending programs. • Provide administrative and programmatic support to the Food & Drug Program Administrator and Specialty Operations staff, including preparation of reports, correspondence, training materials, and standard operating procedures. • Serve as a subject matter expert and consultant on regulatory compliance, policy development, and interpretation of the Louisiana Administrative Code and USFDA federal regulations. • Oversee rulemaking activities by drafting notices of intent, participating in public hearings, responding to legislative and stakeholder comments, and advising on necessary updates to rules and regulations. • Support compliance with the USFDA Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Standards (MFRPS) by assisting in developing policies, procedures, and long-term plans for program implementation and enhancement. • Conduct inspections and audits of food manufacturers, distributors, and commercial seafood establishments under the Federal Inspection Program, and participate in emergency response activities related to public health threats and disasters.
