Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: • Conducts inspections of retail food markets, restaurants, sewage systems, and waste disposal facilities to ensure compliance with the State Sanitary Code and protect public health. • Manages and directs inspections of institutions such as prisons, schools, daycares, and nursing homes to verify safe and hygienic living conditions. • Investigates and resolves complaints related to unsanitary conditions, nuisances, and public health hazards. • Administers and oversees parish-wide Sanitarian Services programs, including developing guidelines, tracking productivity, and preparing reports to meet program goals. • Leads emergency response activities (e.g., floods, hurricanes, contamination events) through surveillance, monitoring, and after-hours work when needed. • Collaborates with public officials, civic groups, and the community to address environmental and public health issues while maintaining professional expertise through training and continuing education.
