Safety Specialist, Full Time, Easton PA

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The focus of the position is execution of the safety strategy with the goal of continuously reducing workplace injuries/illnesses, reducing work related injury costs and complying with all safety and health laws and regulations. In addition, this role will support the execution of environmental tasks as directed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local safety, health and environmental regulations.
• Ensure compliance by conducting environmental, health and safety audits and assessments to include formal audits coordinated with management team and informal audits through frequent weekly/daily tours of the plant.
• Conduct and document incident investigations in a timely manner. Analyze data and conduct root cause analysis and hazard identification. Coordinate with appropriate parties to execute the correction or removal of hazards.
• Develop and conduct safety training including but not limited to annual compliance training, new hire training, forklift training, etc.
• Support the safety and health strategy to include facilitating safety committee meetings, participating in safety focus groups and providing weekly safety topics.
• Participate in the Emergency Response Plan development and response.
• Maintain, update and revise all machine specific Lockout/Tagout procedures and conduct annual reviews to ensure accuracy.
• Conduct environmental testing including but not limited to noise and air sampling.
• Coordinate and execute safety engagement initiatives to drive an overall positive safety culture
• Attend Manufacturing Team Meetings and Manufacturing Management meetings to report out on safety findings and gather management and employee support of solutions.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in EHS, Business or Operations Management; or 3 years of industrial safety experience.
• Knowledge of Safety regulations including: OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, etc.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations: DEP, EPA
• Experienced in identifying risks, conducting internal investigations and developing comprehensive asset protection and theft management programs.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with peers, work in group and individual environments.
• Experienced in developing, writing and maintaining manuals and training aids intended to ensure effective and efficient results.
• Excellent PC skills - including developing presentations and documents for training/communication and spreadsheets and graphs to document and share safety related information.
• Requires independent thinking and work/project execution.
• Requires quick decision making abilities.
• Must be flexible to work various shifts & respond to emergencies 24x7.
