Position: SAFETY AND OPERATIONS MANAGER

Reports To: Safety and Operations Director/ CHRO

Location: Redemption San Jose

Classification: Full Time, Exempt

Ideal Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday 9am-5:30pm, Sunday 8am-4:30pm

Position Summary:

The Safety and Operations Manager plays a vital role inensuring that the church campus operates smoothly, efficiently, and infull compliance with safety standards with an emphasis on operations. This individual will oversee day-to-dayoperational logistics while implementing and monitoring workplace safetyprograms that align with California OSHA (Cal/OSHA) and Federal OSHAregulations focusing on the mitigation of accidents, injuries, and risk to the organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in safetymanagement and facility operations, a hands-on approach, and a heart for servingin a ministry environment. The Safety and Operations Manager also maintains accurate records while providing training to employees. This person also encompasses operational element of the campus such as the management of Redemption San Jose fleet and Executive transport.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Tracking and Training Support: Maintenanceof the following items and assist with staff training/new hire training asrequired. Serve as the liaison between vendors and the Safety and OperationsDirector:

o First Aid Kits

o Location Maps for all of the above

ErgonomicsTraining Setup: Facilitate and maintenance of online ergonomics training andthe annual Ergonomics call to action for workstation assistance setup as wellas assisting employees with ergonomic requests and inquiries.

Safety ProgramManagement: Collaborate with Supervisors and Facilities teams to ensure propercompletion and tracking of weekly/annual safety programs across variousdepartments, such as tailgate safety.

Campus SafetyTraining: Facilitate campus-related Safety and Compliance training, includinghosting on-site or hands-on presentations/application training for:

o Mandated Reporter

o Sexual Harassment

o Workplace Violence

o Ergonomics

o Livescan (California only)

o Miscellaneous compliance specific to departments (e.g.,heavy equipment certification, fall prevention, hazardous materials, etc.)

Safety ClosetManagement: Maintenance and inventoryrestocking/organization of the Safety Closet. Communicate needs and facilitateongoing orders through purchasing.

PersonalProtective Equipment (PPE) Support: Provide purchasing support to teamsrequiring safety PPE and enforce safe work attire as per policy and teamspecifications.

V olunteerCompliance Requirement Assistance: Assist with the new Volunteer Compliancerequirement for background check reports for all individuals serving withminors, or handling finances.

SOP TrainingAssistance: Support SOP training in San Jose and issuance for new hires perOSHA-required programs, including:

o Wildfire Smoke Exposure Plan (Cal/OSHA Standards)

o Protocol for Storage and Handling of HazardousSubstances

o Medical Services and First Aid Provisions

o Emergency Action and Fire Prevention Plans

o Workplace Violence Program

o Additional IIPP details as needed

Bi-annualSafety Walk-Throughs: Manage bi-annual office safety walk-throughs using aprovided checklist to identify safety hazards, fire risks, and securityconcerns.

Implementationof Safety Programs: Assist and facilitate safety programs tailored to theorganization that may reduce Workers Compensation premiums, such as stretchand flex and tailgate topics in collaboration with the respective departments.

Safety andCompliance Communications: Facilitate communication between staff, the dreamteam, and outside contractors and vendors (e.g., Cintas) as required by thedepartment.

HeavyEquipment Certification Scheduling: Facilitate scheduling heavy equipmentcertification and training for anyone operating machinery (staff, dream team,vendors) and track certifications and expiration dates.

FallProtection Oversight: Ensure that proper fall protection is utilized forladders of specific heights and scissor lift operators (including harnesses).

Collaborationwith Safety and Operations Team: Collaborate with the Safety and Complianceteam, interdepartmental staff, and outside vendors as needed.

Go-To Personfor Safety Inquiries: Serve as the primary contact on campus for any Safetyinquiries, relaying information to the Safety and Operations Director forfurther instructions.

Campus SafetyMonitoring: Regularly walk the campus to identify safety hazards, blockedexits, broken exit signs, expired fire extinguisher certifications, and ensurecompliance information is posted in break rooms. Communicate any potentialissues to the Safety and Operations Director immediately.

AdditionalSafety and Compliance Tasks: Perform various Safety and Compliance-relatedtasks as needed for reporting, communication, or assistance to the San Josecampus.

Assist withtracking and disbursement of the Redemption Rewards ticketing initiative forqualifying Safety and Compliance trainings, or staff call to action requestsfor San Jose Campus.

Executive and Guest Transportation: Manage and/ or facilitate all Executive transport duringoffice hours.

ParsonageManagement: Manage and be on-call for maintenance of installation andmonitoring of home surveillance systems including trouble alarms, and repairs.

Campus Fire alarm Management: Oversee andsupport Fire alarm servicing and maintenance as needed as well as pertainingvendors, projects, quotes, etc.

EmergencyPreparedness: Responsible for maintaining and training of employees of theemergency preparedness response and protocols. Required to work with Security Director to ensure that these emergency protocols are createdand updated to then facilitate the employee trainings. This consists ofpreparing the staff, ministries and ensuring they understand their role in thecase of an emergency.

Vendor andContractor Management: In collaboration with the Safety and OperationsDirector, facilitate the project/ service walks and submission of all vendorand contractor requests pertaining to Safety and Operations per Redemptionpolicies and protocols.

Weekly Risk Assessments: Facilitate thoroughweekly campus walk throughs detailing and noting any damages, safety hazards,unlocked access points, or suspicious activity that may have occurred andcollaborate with Security Team for next steps for any risks that may haveoccurred under their Supervision.

Safety and Operations Budgeting: Manage andmaintain expenditures related to Safety and Operations and facilitation oftheir reconciling following Redemption policies and procedures.

FleetManagement: Responsible for the upkeep and repairs, compliance and maintenanceof all Redemption San Jose vehicles, trucks, and large equipment.

Incident Report Management : Per CalOSHAmanage and facilitate the reporting of incidences, ensuring proper tracking andinformation is maintained.

RadioCommunication Management: Manage issuance and assignments of Church radios.Facilitate repairs, and proper functioning.

Fleet Gas CardManagement: Maintain oversight, budgeting, and facilitation of fleet andvehicle gas cards through reconciling and vehicle logs, and receipts.

InvoiceProcessing & Vendor Payments: Facilitate and manage all invoices and vendorprocessing as required for maintenance and proper housekeeping of respectivedepartment expenditures and contractor/vendor affiliations.

Requirements

Skills Required:

  • Foundationalunderstanding of relevant safety regulations and standards.
  • Thoroughrecord keeping and attention to detail are crucial for maintainingcompliance.
  • Abilityto clearly communicate safety information to employees andmanagement.
  • Abilityto identify and resolve safety issues.
  • Strongorganizational skills are necessary to manage multiple tasks anddeadlines.
  • Abilityto effectively train employees on safety procedures.
  • Proficiencyin using computer software for record keeping and reporting.
  • Anyexperience with adherence to OSHA standards is a plus.
  • Strongunderstanding of Microsoft Suite (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Minimum 1 year safety experience required
  • Minimum 2 year operations or project management experience highly preferred
