Position Overview

Safety Managers at Kiewit are essential in ensuring Nobody Gets Hurt . They implement safety programs, conduct training, and monitor compliance on construction projects, focusing on field oversight to ensure safety for staff, subcontractors, and consultants.

Location & District Overview

This position is based on the construction of the Mobile River Bridge in Mobile, AL, with relocation required. Kiewit's Bridge & Marine District operates across North America, specializing in bridges, marine structures, and dredge work, including floating bridges.

Responsibilities
  • Safety Planning and Implementation: Develop safety plans, ensure compliance, conduct site inspections.
  • Training and Education: Develop safety training, promote safety culture.
  • Incident Management: Lead investigations, analyze root causes, report incidents.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on safety regulations, coordinate inspections.
  • Safety Performance Monitoring: Establish KPIs, conduct assessments, report safety metrics.
Qualifications
  • Education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years in construction safety management, preferably in bridge/marine projects.
  • Professional safety certifications preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid, EMT, OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in dynamic environments, travel, and relocate as needed.
