Safety Services Manager
The Organization
The Nashville Downtown Partnership (NDP) is a dynamic nonprofit 501 (c)(6) organization working with business and community leaders (from both private and public sectors), and property owners to provide energy, vision, and advocacy for downtown Nashville. NDP's
core purpose is to make downtown Nashville the compelling urban center in the southeast in which to live, work, play and invest.
Strategic initiatives include clean and safe services, advocacy, access and transportation, business, residential and retail development, and image and communications. Working collaboratively with its partners, NDP is a visible and innovative leader in Nashville's urban development.
Position Description and Purpose
This position
will help develop and implement strategies for safety and outreach programs to enhance the downtown experience. The position requires someone who is passionate about downtown Nashville, urban livability, vitality, and wants to transform the overall landscape in downtown.
The ideal candidate is professional, committed, and a team player. We are looking for a forward thinker capable of developing and implementing creative solutions to existing and future problems.
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Report to the NDP Director of Safety Services
· Manage the safety & outreach programs and special projects
· Establish and maintain relationships with business and property owners in the Central Business Improvement District (CBID) regarding safety and quality of life issues
· Proactively identify safety and quality of life issues and coordinate resources to address issues
· Promote crime prevention, safety, and community relations events
· Direct supervision of on-street services of the Safety Ambassadors, related, but not limited to, data collection, codes enforcement, outreach assistance and customer service
· Keep up to date on trends and opportunities in safety and outreach
· Utilize analytics to enhance the programs
· Provide timely reports to director
Minimum Qualifications:
Education - Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in safety, security, quality of life and outreach programs
Skills - Ability to interact well with all levels of NDP staff, and local business and community stake holders
· Possess strong oral and written skills, having the ability to communicate with a diverse audience including board members, staff, community, and business leaders/employees
· Ability to understand company software and document/report information appropriately and timely
· Positive attitude, highly motivated, highly professional, resourceful, collaborative, and a problem solver
Works well under pressure
5 to 10 years of recent law enforcement experience with the Metro Nashville Police Department and/or the Tennessee Highway Patrol is preferred
Physical Requirements:
This position may require the ability to lift objects of at least 60 pounds in weight. Job duties require approximately 40% sitting/typing and 60% standing/walking. Physical requirements will vary depending upon the specific duties to be accomplished.
