Essential Job Summary: As the Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in implementing and overseeing all health and safety programs across our operations, including solid waste collection, transfer, recycling, and disposal. You will ensure that all facility and route activities adhere to federal, state, and local safety and transportation regulations. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a culture of safety and compliance.

Essential Job Functions: To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Program Compliance:
    • Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures in line with OSHA, DOT, and local regulations.
    • Conduct regular observations and inspections to ensure adherence to safety practices and regulatory standards.
    • Provide guidance to frontline managers and supervisors on compliance requirements and hazard recognition.
  • Training & Education:
    • Facilitate safety training sessions and stand-downs for drivers, operators, and facility staff.
    • Organize emergency preparedness drills and simulations.
  • Incident Management:
    • Investigate accidents and safety violations, preparing detailed root cause analysis and corrective action reports.
    • Lead incident review meetings and assist in managing injury care.
  • Risk Mitigation:
    • Identify hazards and implement proactive measures to minimize risks.
    • Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) across operations.
  • Regulatory Reporting & Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of inspections, training sessions, and incidents.
    • Monitor compliance with training programs to ensure all employees are current with necessary certifications.
  • Leadership & Culture:
    • Commit to improving and communicating safety policies across all work environments.
    • Promote a culture of safety at all organizational levels.
    • Support supervisors and frontline employees with safety initiatives.
    • Participate actively in safety committees and cross-functional teams.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in sanitation, solid waste, transportation, or industrial operations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and health & safety compliance regulations.
  • Analytical and organizational skills to navigate a fast-paced work environment effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with operations for safe practices.
  • Availability to respond to emergencies outside standard business hours.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site travel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary Range: Minimum: $100,000/year; Maximum: $135,000/year.
