Position Overview
We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Plant Safety Manager to partner with leadership in promoting a safe and compliant work environment. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all safety-related programs and ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will play a key role in cultivating a culture of safety through training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Program Management:
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs aligned with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Identify and lead safety initiatives that support overall business objectives.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments.
- Analyze and report safety performance metrics to management weekly.
- Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Coordinate and lead Safety Committees and develop initiatives to improve overall safety awareness and culture.
- Maintain relationships with external safety and emergency organizations (e.g., OSHA, fire departments).
- Monitor and improve incident and accident trends to ensure a safer work environment and reduce workers' compensation costs.
Training & Development:
- Develop and deliver safety training programs tailored to plant needs.
- Assist in designing on-the-job training materials including SOPs, guides, and visual aids.
- Schedule and coordinate training sessions in collaboration with managers and supervisors.
- Monitor employee training progress and ensure timely completion within established deadlines.
- Maintain accurate training records and certifications in coordination with Plant HR Manager.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Serve as the company's representative for OSHA and other regulatory agency interactions.
- Ensure all required documentation and reports are up to date and accessible.
- Protect the organization's value by maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Professional Development:
- Stay current with industry best practices by attending workshops, reading publications, and engaging with professional organizations.
Qualifications -
- Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Hands-on experience with Hazardous Waste Management and OSHA compliance.
