Job Overview

Komatsu is currently recruiting for a Safety Lead position at our Longview, Texas facility.

Key Job ResponsibilitiesWork safely and advocate for safety.
  • Conduct hearing tests for the supported area.
  • Support departmental leadership in communicating safety topics.
  • MBWA findings and reporting/action items—taking notes, creating action items, and following up on findings.
  • Velocity actions support—studying statistical data and reporting with action items.
  • Conduct practical training/demos with employees.
  • Review and evaluate deliverables via Watch-One process.
  • Develop JSA/SWI.
  • Assess, advise, and consult with supervisors on planning, designing, and modifying equipment and facilities to eliminate hazards and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Initiate participative employee teams to improve safety programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, and other regulations; liaise with organizations and agencies for updates.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the operations floor, supporting designated departments.
  • Approximately 70% on the floor, 30% administrative duties.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Occupational Safety and 5+ years of manufacturing experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety field.
  • Understanding of safety functions within manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to understand manufacturing machinery and processes.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and environmental regulations impacting the area.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines.
