Streamline Utilities delivers comprehensive infrastructure services across the U.S. We're looking for a Safety Inspector to champion safety culture in the field, conduct daily risk assessments, and uphold regulatory compliance.
Position Type
This role will be approximately 70% in the field and 30% in the office or remote, depending on project needs (HQ: Elk Grove Village, IL)
- Contract: W-2 or 1099
- Reports to: Construction Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), hazard assessments, and safety briefings before field operations
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with OSHA and industry safety standards
- Inspect work sites (excavations, boring, splicing zones) for hazards and enforce safety protocols
- Document safety metrics, near-misses, and incidents; report findings and recommend corrective actions
- Collaborate with field crews and supervisors to maintain a proactive safety culture
- Support safety trainings, certification tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (required)
- First Aid / CPR Certification (preferred)
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) – a plus
- Minimum 3 years of experience in safety oversight within telecom or construction environments
- Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards for telecom and construction
- Hands-on experience conducting site safety audits, hazard assessments, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively deliver safety briefings and training
- Ability to prepare clear, concise safety reports and incident documentation
- Competence with Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems
- Commitment to promoting and maintaining a proactive safety culture
