The Safety Director is accountable for the management, coordination, and successful completion of safety requirements for their assigned geographical area. They should assume a leadership role for all staff members and Safety Managers as well as subcontractor partners in leading these teams to safely construct their projects and improve the workforce's attitude towards behaving in a safe manner both on and off the project. The ultimate goal is to ensure each worker returns home safely each and every day.
As Safety Director for a region of the Company, they must be vigilant in the education and training of field Superintendents and possess relationship building skills to aid in firmly establishing the safety culture the Company desires. They shall establish a relationship with all regulatory inspection agencies (OSHA, etc.) and further our image with each.
They shall also actively participate in the training and development of all Safety Staff on projects in their area of responsibility and be the conduit between all projects for best practices and transfer of knowledge. They will work closely with the Corporate Safety Director to introduce all new initiatives. Where there is no project specific Safety Manager/Coordinator, the Safety Director shall assume all duties and responsibilities of a Senior Safety Manager and actively participate with the project teams to ensure worker safety.
