Position Overview: Nalu Federal is seeking a qualified Safety and Occupational Health (SOH)/Training Safety Specialist to support high- and moderate-risk training safety programs at NCTC Gulfport. The ideal candidate will perform comprehensive inspections, conduct hazard analyses, support mishap investigations, deliver safety training, and ensure compliance with Navy safety standards. The position plays a key role in reinforcing a safe and health-conscious training environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily inspections of facilities, equipment, construction areas, and training operations to identify safety hazards.
- Perform risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and mishap evaluations; draft comprehensive reports with corrective action recommendations.
- Serve as the Command Training Safety Officer (TSO), assisting the Training Safety Administrator (TSA) in oversight of High-Risk and Moderate-Risk Training Safety compliance.
- Enter safety data and reports into ESAMS and Risk Management Information (RMI) systems.
- Support and lead safety training presentations, general SOH classes, and special safety meetings.
- Represent the SOH/Training Safety Manager during absences; work flexible hours as mission demands.
- Support Hearing Conservation, Sight Conservation, and Heat Stress/Injury Prevention programs through equipment operations and monitoring.
- Assist with personnel and equipment mishap investigations and prepare timely online mishap submissions.
- Certify and maintain CPR/First Aid/AED instructor status within three months of hire.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in SOH compliance within a military or industrial setting, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and mishap analysis.
- Proficiency with ESAMS and/or RMI systems .
- Ability to conduct safety instruction and training; public speaking and presentation experience.
- Must be able to wear PPE and perform physically demanding tasks in industrial and construction environments.
- Strong computer and technical reporting skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Frequent walking, bending, climbing ladders, and observing operations in high-risk areas.
- Exposure to industrial and environmental hazards; PPE required (except for steel-toe footwear and prescription safety glasses, which will be provided by the government).
