THE SCHOOL BOARD OF MANATEE COUNTY Local Title: ROOFER State Title: Roofer JOB DESCRIPTION JOB GOAL: To provide skilled work in roofing installation and roofing repairs. QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited high school or trade school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Three (3) years' experience in the roofing trade. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of the roofing trade. Knowledge of the safe use and erection of scaffolding and ladders. Knowledge of all forms of roofing systems, upkeep, and repair. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Skilled in the use and care of standard tools and equipment used in the roofing trade, as well as those used in preparation work. Skilled in the installation, repair, alteration, and rehabilitation of roofs. Ability to keep accurate records. Ability to work under various conditions to complete necessary jobs. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Buildings Maintenance SUPERVISES: N/A PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Install, repair, alter and rehabilitate roofs. Cover roofs with roofing materials, such as: single ply membrane, metal, composition shingles, sheets, asphalt, and gravel to make them waterproof. Clean and maintain tools in proper working order, including kettles, gauges, and valves. Follow assigned duties, both oral and written. Maintain accurate records of daily work and time and payroll information. Follow safety standards in performing work and report unsafe conditions to Manager/Supervisor in a timely manner. May be required to work after hours and/or weekends. Travel outside of Manatee County as required in the performance of duties. Perform other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job the employee works both inside and outside. Requires lifting, holding, carrying, sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity. The noise level in the work environment can be high at times. The employee frequently will work irregular or extended work hours while performing the duties of this job. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. Safety is the highest priority. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
