$84,557.00 - $118,380.00

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

General Purpose

Coordinates and facilitates all aspects of an acute clinical specialty program, including clinical care and quality improvement aspects of the program. Manages operational issues and oversees the program specific registry and other applicable data resources. Assists in the coordination of specialty acute care across the continuum. Establishes and oversees the specialty processes to monitor clinical outcomes and performance improvement activities. Performs clinical responsibilities and interacts with representatives from other medical center departments and outside agencies, regional faculty, staff, and regulatory agencies, as necessary. May serve as a team lead and/or supervisor of 1-2 staff.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates acute specialty center activities across the continuum of acute care, including planning and implementing clinical protocols/practices, management guidelines, monitoring of in-hospital patients, and serving as a resource for clinical providers. Establishes procedures and operational plans to maintain required verification and certifications, ensuring ongoing compliance with designated criteria. Organizes the production and publication of an internal and external annual report. Maintains acute specialty center business plan outlining immediate, short term and long-term goals with benchmarking analysis and budget objectives. May develop long-range strategic plans for the growth of acute specialty service within the University system. Coordinates and facilitates communication and cooperation amongst the many disciplines that work in concert to provide high-quality acute care. Serves as an internal resource for staff in all departments and acts as an extended liaison with Emergency Medical Services agencies, the community, and national regulatory bodies. Reviews progress and seeks improvement in all aspects of the program. Maintains a safe and efficient work environment. Performs performance evaluation, time management, and required human resource activities as required.

  • Maintains a collaborative relationship and actively participates with external specialty committees, councils, groups, and state/national clinical acute care systems. Ensures adherence and required reporting to external compliance authorities. Participates in national societies as a representative of the specialty program. May deliver and facilitate community outreach and maintains positive relationships with acute specialty center constituents, including prehospital providers and referring hospitals.

  • Oversees all aspects of quality assurance and performance improvement data required for ongoing acute specialty center verification and/or certification. Supports quality indicators. Develops and performs audits and case reviews, identifies trends and sentinel events, provides direct feedback, and helps to outline remedial actions as needed. Utilizes standardized benchmarked reporting to direct performance improvement. Works to ensure that all performance improvement requirements are met and maintained. Designs the specialty registry to facilitate performance improvement activities, as well as the creation of reports and research while protecting confidentiality. Oversees data collection for various sources and data extraction and quality assurance of data integrity. May participate in selecting, analyzing, and distributing current and relevant research findings. Facilitates protocol design for accurate data collection, feedback, and analysis.

  • Shares knowledge and expertise with all members of the health care team. Enhances the training and education of physicians, nurses, and residents at Strong Memorial Hospital and within our region. Organizes and updates resident onboarding to the acute specialty service team. Coordinates specialty service meetings required to maintain required verification and certifications. Participates in the delivery of acute specialty educational courses, and facilitates coordination of all other specialty center educational efforts.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing and 5 years relevant experience, including at least 2 years at a managerial level required

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience at t acute specialty-specific center in Emergency Department or Intensive Care Unit required

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively problem-solve required

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing required

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure NYS RN Licensure upon hire required

  • Clinical Area of Specialty Certification within 1 year required
