Job Description: RN - Postpartum Location: New York, New York Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Postpartum Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Antepartum/Postpartum unit. This role focuses on providing exceptional care to postpartum mothers and their newborns while ensuring their comfort and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in maternal-newborn care, demonstrate strong clinical skills, and adapt seamlessly to a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Roles and Responsibilities:
Maternal and Newborn Care: Provide high-quality nursing care to postpartum mothers and their newborns, including monitoring for complications, administering medications, and offering lactation support. Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM): Perform and interpret EFM when required and collaborate with the healthcare team to identify and respond to any concerns. Family Education: Educate mothers and families on postpartum recovery, newborn care, and safe discharge practices. Floating Responsibilities: Float to other units within the hospital, as needed, based on patient acuity and skill set. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), adhering to hospital policies and best practices. Job Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Licensure and Certification:
- Active New York State RN license.
- American Heart Association (AHA) certifications: BLS and NRP required.
- EFM certification is mandatory, and it must be obtained from one of the following:
- Perinatal Quality Foundation (PQF)
- National Certification Corporation (NCC) (EFM certifications from AWHONN are not accepted.)
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent postpartum or maternal-newborn nursing experience.
- Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center or large academic hospital is preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in EMR systems, strong communication, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Schedule:
- Shift: 11.5-hour day shifts (rotating 3-4-3-4 schedule).
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
- Call Requirement: None.
- Float Requirement: Yes, to units appropriate for skill set and within acuity.
