American Cruise Lines is seeking River Nav Mate Pilots for our growing fleet sailing unique itineraries along inland waterways of the Mississippi-Ohio-Cumberland Rivers. Our U.S. flag ships are state-of-the-art, designed for safe operation and five-star service to 100-200 guests.

Nav Mates are senior shipboard watch officers responsible for safe vessel operations, adherence to company and regulatory standards, and representing the company as professional leaders and examples. They are experienced mariners with piloting experience in challenging coastal and river waterways, making prudent decisions by continually assessing potential risks ahead of the vessel and crew. Nav Mates are meticulous professionals committed to guest service and setting a standard for their crews.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
  • Operate vessels safely, adhering to all standards and regulations.
  • Perform prudent vessel piloting and maneuvering.
  • Conduct daily inspections of all vessel interior and exterior spaces.
  • Maintain logs, reports, and communications accurately.
  • Lead in maintaining a safe, secure, clean, and comfortable onboard environment.

Typical season runs from March to November, with 4-6 weeks on and 2-3 weeks off.

Qualifications
  • U.S. Coast Guard Master's license: minimum 100T, preferably 1600T or higher.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • At least 2 years of experience on coastal and river waterways; 5 years preferred, with Z-drive experience.
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills.
  • Pre-employment drug testing and ongoing random testing required.
