Position Summary: Chattanooga State Community College seeks a dynamic and mission-driven professional to serve as the Rural Grant Coordinator for the Rural Initiatives for Student Excellence in Healthcare Pathways (RISE ) grant, funded by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC). This full-time, grant-funded role provides strategic, operational, and student-centered support to expand healthcare education pathways for rural and underserved populations across the College's service area. The coordinator will report directly to the Dean of Nursing & Allied Health and play a vital role in connecting high school students, faculty, and community stakeholders to healthcare education and career pathways. Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate all aspects of the RISE grant's implementation, including timeline management, partner engagement, and student tracking
  • Collaborate with Program Director's to plan and execute grant-related activities such as site visits, career exploration events, and faculty development sessions
  • Maintain data and prepare internal and external reports documenting program progress and impact
  • Collaborate with internal departments (Advising, Admissions, Dual Enrollment, Financial Aid, Institutional Effectiveness) to streamline student services for rural cohorts
  • Travel to rural schools and community sites as needed to support implementation and relationship-building
Holistic Student Support
  • Foster a student-centered approach by coordinating advising recruitment, onboarding, and wraparound services for rural healthcare pathway students
  • Partner with faculty, advisors, and high school counselors to provide proactive interventions and academic support
  • Support equity and access by identifying and addressing barriers to student participation and success in rural settings
Fiscal Stewardship
  • Manage day-to-day budget tracking for RISE grant expenditures in alignment with institutional guidelines
  • Work closely with Admin 3 on travel coordination, and grant-related purchases, ensuring compliance and documentation accuracy
  • Prepare budget reports and assist with grant audits in collaboration with the Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs
Organizational Culture
  • Promote collaboration, and transparency across departments and with external partners
  • Serve as a liaison between Chattanooga State, K-12 schools, healthcare partners, and rural communities
  • Represent the College positively in all external communications and partnership activities
Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation
  • Support dual enrollment and work-based learning opportunities for high school students in healthcare fields
  • Coordinate logistics for rural site delivery, including faculty assignments, classroom readiness, and clinical alignment
  • Contribute to innovative approaches that align academic programming with community workforce needs and rural healthcare access
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, healthcare, public administration, or related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in program coordination, grant administration, student services, or community outreach
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with a diverse population
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data systems
  • Willingness to travel regionally to rural partner locations
Additional Information: This is a full-time position contingent upon continued external funding through the THEC RISE grant. The Rural Grant Coordinator will be a key contributor to fulfilling the College's mission to transform lives and strengthen communities through accessible, innovative, and equitable healthcare education.
