Restructuring and Dispute Resolution - Managing Director

Location: New York. Department: Advisory. Function: Restructuring and Dispute Resolution. This role supports the Restructuring & Dispute Resolution group as part of CohnReznick's Advisory practice. CohnReznick is a hybrid firm with remote work options; duties may be performed outside of an office with scheduled notice for client work, meetings, or trainings.

We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Managing Director to join the Restructuring team in our Restructuring and Dispute Resolution Advisory practice. The firm provides a broad suite of services and opportunities to learn, grow, and build capabilities across the practice.

This position will support our Restructuring & Dispute Resolution group, interacting with team members across all levels within the practice.

Your Role

Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To

  • Provide strategic advice and analytical services in turnaround and crisis situations.
  • Assume interim leadership positions with client organizations.
  • Lead CohnReznick professional teams deployed on client projects in both in-court and out-of-court environments.
  • Assist businesses in analyzing profits, costs, cash flows, market trends, valuations, and other relevant data.
  • Assess the client company's long-term viability and business strategy.
  • Develop and/or implement financial restructuring plans for clients.
  • Interact directly with client C-suite and other project professional firms including attorneys and investment bankers.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience providing complex financial restructuring to distressed companies.
  • Interim managerial experience preferred including CRO, CEO, CFO, COO type roles.
  • CPA or CFA preferred.
  • CIRA (Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor) and/or Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) designations a plus.
  • Excellent in-person and written communication capabilities.
  • Insolvency experience, including managing debtor bankruptcies and creditor committee engagements.
  • Experience assessing business plans.
  • Large case experience is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Significant flexibility of work schedule and travel to meet client needs required.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and root cause determination skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong client-focus skills.
  • Ability to lead a team in a deadline-driven environment. A natural self-starter and independent thinker.
  • Action-oriented, decisive approach, with the willingness to take a hands-on role to ensure the deliverables are met on time with high quality.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, with an emphasis on Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Up to 80% travel
