Job Type Full-timeDescriptionGREATER ROCHESTER HABITAT FOR HUMANITYJOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: ReStore Assistant Manager Department: ReStoreReports to: ReStore Manager Payroll Status: Full time, hourly, non-exemptWork Week: Location Dependent Pay Grade: 5Monroe County: Monday through Friday; occasional weekends Ontario County: Tuesday through Saturday GENERALThe Assistant ReStore Manager supports the ReStore Manager in the general oversight of day-to-day operations of a Habitat for Humanity ReStore and assists in the management of staff and volunteers at their location. The ReStore is a retail business that sells donated building materials, furniture, appliances, and other products, and the revenue those sales generate directly supports Habitat's mission to build homes, communities, and hope. The Assistant ReStore Manager plays a key role in ensuring the store's success by supporting the acquisition, marketing, and sale of quality donated items; assisting with the planning and execution of effective and efficient store processes; and providing leadership in the supervision, training, and performance management of volunteers and staff.The Assistant ReStore Manager is also instrumental in maintaining a positive and welcoming atmosphere within the store by effectively balancing and serving the needs of donors, volunteers, and customers. Working collaboratively with the ReStore Manager, the Assistant ReStore Manager contributes to fostering a productive, customer-focused environment that upholds Habitat's values and mission.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESManagement of store operations:
  • Perform opening and closing of ReStore for scheduled hours.
  • Assist in performing daily sales/cash register reconciliation and deposits.
  • Oversee the coordination of daily and weekly pickup and delivery schedules with ReStore Donations Coordinator.
  • Oversee display and organization of showroom sales areas jointly with other ReStore staff to ensure all items are properly priced and ticketed for sale.
  • Oversee selection and pricing of collectible items in-store and on-line.
  • Assist warehouse staff as required to maintain orderly flow of items.
  • Manage and track inventory.
Leadership and supervision of ReStore staff and volunteers:
  • Plan and coordinate staff and volunteer schedules.
  • Assign tasks as needed.
  • Provide direction, oversight, and feedback.
  • Relay performance concerns to store manager; assist in carrying out performance initiatives
  • Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to attract and retain volunteers.
  • Assist in training staff members on policy, procedures, and programs.
  • Assist in training new volunteers or assigning a staff member to train the new volunteers.
Ensuring a safe, efficient, and risk-free environment:
  • Review maintenance and safety of all ReStore vehicles with Safety & Facilities Manager.
  • Ensure ReStore is free of potential safety and health hazards.
  • Enforce safe work practices for all ReStore staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure that the exterior of the building is safe and clear of hazards, including snow removal from sidewalks and stairs.
Oversight of product procurement:
  • Determine and enforce criteria and prioritization for donation acceptance.
  • Review and follow up regularly with Donations Coordinator on calls, visits, letters, and meetings with potential business donors.
Other duties:
  • Drive and operate ReStore donations truck for pick-ups/drop-offs if necessary
  • Participate in fundraising and celebration/recognition events.
  • Act as an ambassador to promote the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity.
  • Attend any in-person and online seminars assigned by the manager or ReStore Director.
  • Assist the store manager in formulating new ideas for upgrading store processes and programs.
  • Serve as back-up to store manager if necessary
  • Other duties as assigned.

RequirementsSKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Enthusiasm for the mission and vision of Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience of in person retail required; 3 or more years preferred
  • Experience managing teams of 2 or more, preferred
  • Retail experience in home goods and/or non-profit industry preferred
  • Experience working with volunteers, a plus
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic: natural team leader who thrives working with people with diverse backgrounds and capabilities, and can foster a positive environment for all staff, volunteers, and customers.
  • Ability to effectively lead, supervise, and coach staff performance
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work with modern computer systems and POS systems.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook and Excel, preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to a safe working environment
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • A valid New York State Driver's License and an insurable driving record is required
  • Ability to operate office equipment, as well as warehouse equipment
  • Experience driving a box truck, preferred
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Sitting, walking, and/or standing for extended periods.
  • Climbing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Regularly moving up to 50 pounds individually, and heavier items with assistance (i.e. couches/appliances)
  • This position requires good manual dexterity and coordination.
  • Must be able to frequently communicate in English (verbal), working as part of a team and supporting staff and volunteers.
