Empowering People's Independence (EPI) provides support for people with developmental disabilities, epilepsy, and brain injury through progressive, tailored care to improve their health, wellbeing, independence, and social inclusion.

Job Purpose:

Provide for the continuous direction and day-to-day operation of the program. Provide oversight for all assigned individuals and supervision to all assigned staff. Ensure quality and compliance standards are met.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain the health and well-being of the individuals EPI supports.
  • Ensure adequate staffing to meet the person's supported needs.
  • Function as a direct support professional (DSP).
  • Monitor all Funders' required documentation; report all policy violations to appropriate personnel.
  • Act as a member of the team for each person supported by participating in the Life Plan meetings to evaluate and discuss support provided.
  • Participate in all person's supported referrals, intake, placement, and discharge.
  • Review and sign off on all billing documentation to ensure Agency compliance.
  • Provide ongoing supervision and program training for all assigned staff; ensure Agency-wide training is compliant.
  • Serve as on-call on a rotating basis.
  • Perform all other duties as requested.
Education and Experience:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field and one year of experience in the human service field; or
  • An Associate's Degree in a related field and three years of experience in the human service field; or
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and preferably five years of experience in the human service field.
Qualifications:
  • Maintain a valid New York State driver's license; a vehicle is required to perform the job; may need to be van certified.
  • Obtain all required training within 90 days of being hired and updates as required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must be able to lift, transfer, and move at least 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, hear, stand for extended periods of time, walk, sit, twist, bend, use hands to finger, stretch with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include:
    • Close vision
    • Ability to adjust focus
  • Employee must be able to train in and perform Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention Revised (SCIP-R) if Funder requires.
  • Perform CPR and first aid if Funder requires.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee travels by automobile and/or Agency Van and will be exposed to changing weather conditions.

OSHA Category 1:

This position requires tasks that involve exposure to blood or body fluids that requires specific training for the employees' safety. All EPI employees are offered the opportunity to receive Hepatitis B vaccination series.

The ideal hours for this position are 10:30 am - 7:00 pm / or 11:00 am - 7:30 pm

Pay Rate: $23.56/hr - $25.49/hr
