An education network in Westchester County is currently seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join their growing team at a school in Yonkers.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Length: Ongoing (Contract to Hire)
- Schedule: 3 days / 12 hours
- Hours: 7 to 7:30 (day and night shifts available)
- Patient Population: Elementary - High School Students
Responsibilities:
- Treat every resident, family member, and co-worker with dignity, respect, and courtesy
- Perform assessments and therapeutic modalities for infants, children, and adolescents as ordered or directed by physicians or nurse practitioners of the Center
- Administer nebulized treatments, chest physiotherapy, and oxygen therapy delivery in various modalities, bag/mask ventilation, and other accepted treatments to maintain a patent airway
- Monitor residents on various oxygen support systems
- Administer techniques to induce sputum
- Support criteria(s) set for appropriate resident care and respiratory care services
- Recognize medical problems documents/ reports it to the Charge Nurse, Physician, and Nurse Practitioner in a timely manner
- Set up, stock, and remove equipment, supplies; ensure equipment is functioning properly and is cleaned and stored appropriately
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree from an AMA accredited school for Respiratory Care or equivalent
- Current New York State Respiratory Therapist license
- BLS certification
- Registered by National Board for Respiratory Care.
Desired Skills:
- 1+ year of Acute or Long-Term Care, specifically with Pediatrics
- Experience working with multiple handicapped and/or medically involved children
