The ideal candidate must be willing to rotate between acute and long-term care, committing to three twelve-hour shifts per week with every other weekend required. This role involves working in a collaborative environment to provide exceptional respiratory care for patients with a variety of diagnoses including congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, respiratory failure, and respiratory infections. Responsibilities: - Perform patient assessments and manage ventilators, including advanced modalities. - Conduct ABG sampling and provide pulmonary hygiene support. - Assist in troubleshooting high-pressure alarms and weaning patients from mechanical ventilation. - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across various specialties including IV teams, physical therapy, and rapid response teams. - Maintain patient documentation through an electronic charting system, specifically Epic. - Adhere to safety protocols and provide education on respiratory care to patients and families. Requirements: - Must possess a valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certificate. - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. - Minimum of one year of experience in adult critical care and emergency department settings. - Familiarity with specialized equipment such as HAMILON VENT, SERVO-U VENT, NKV330 (NIV device), AIRVO2, and DREAM MACHINES. - Experience managing various procedures related to intubation, extubation, and airway management. - Effective communication skills and a team-oriented mindset. - Must be willing to float and handle patient ratios that may vary. Work Settings: - Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Epic charting system. - Prior charge experience is a plus. Essential Skills: - High-level patient assessment and monitoring. - Proficiency in emergency respiratory procedures. - Knowledge of patient safety protocols. - Ability to manage complex patient situations effectively. Additional Information: - Candidates must possess a current New York state license. - On-call support may be required, with one night every other week. - Candidates within 75 miles of the facility will not be accepted.
