Job DetailsJob Location Main Hospital Campus Headquarters - Madison, WV Description Boone Memorial Health is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join our team on a per diem basis. This position plays a vital role in supporting cardiopulmonary care across all age groups in our inpatient hospital setting. Under the supervision of a licensed medical provider, the RT will provide direct patient care, respiratory therapy treatments, and patient education, while also supporting clinical staff and contributing to the overall quality of care. Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain oxygen and therapeutic gas equipment
- Administer respiratory therapies including aerosol therapy, postural drainage, IPV, incentive spirometry, and others
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and respond to emergency codes
- Assist with airway care, cleaning and maintenance of respiratory equipment
- Draw and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Conduct pulmonary function testing and six-minute walk tests
- Administer BiPAP/CPAP therapy
- Conduct and document electrocardiograms (EKGs)
- Accurately chart patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Support pulmonary rehabilitation efforts
- Perform finger sticks via glucometer
- Participate in quality assurance and infection control efforts
- Provide care across the lifespan, from neonatal to geriatric patients
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Active license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of West Virginia
- BLS and ACLS certification preferred - training is available through Boone Memorial Healthif not currently certified
- Experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Flexibility to work as needed on a per diem basis, including weekends or holidays

Supervisory Responsibilities
Physical demands
- Ability to perform various motor skills such as; standing and/or sitting for long periods of time, walking, lifting (up to 50 pounds) using proper lifting techniques, stair climbing, reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, grasping, keyboarding, and arm-hand coordination on a continuous basis.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must have ability to hear low and high pitch sounds.
Travel required
Required education and experience
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) which was formerly the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA), Commission on Accreditation for Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and American Medical Association (AMA).
- Credentials as a respiratory therapist, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required.
- Valid license through West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care.
Preferred education and experience
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- Direct patient care experience of six (6) months
- Cardiopulmonary experience of six (6) months
