The Registered Respiratory Therapist I is an individual that is licensed by the NYS Department of Education to perform respiratory therapy procedures, cardio-respiratory diagnostics, and patient assessment under the direction of a licensed physician.
Qualifications
Formal academic training in phlebotomy or equivalent direct patient care education - required
Associate's Degree Graduate of an AMA-approved program of Respiratory Care (minimum Associate's Degree) - required
New Graduate of a CoArc- approved Respiratory Care Program (experience based on clinical rotations) - required
1-2 years' phlebotomy experience (preferably in a hospital setting). - required
Pediatric and adult critical care skills - preferred
1 year of experience as an RRT in an academic medical center environment - required
Experience with emergency department procedures - preferred
Experience with patient transport (both inter- and intra-hospital). - required
Exposure to the management of neonatal patients is desirable - preferred
Meets all core competencies as a Phlebotomist l.
Must be able to read, speak, comprehend, and write English.
Ability to read documents such as physician orders and progress notes.
Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively with customers and others in English (including children).
Must possess computer skills that allow for skillful navigation of the electronic medical record
Ability to apply basic math skills of adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division.
Simple algebraic skills necessary in many calculations.
Ability to add fractions and decimals (medication dosing).
Ability to perform the job in adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct as defined by Albany Medical Center's Code of Conduct and the AARC's Code of Ethics.
This includes but is in no way limited to confidentiality standards (HIPAA).
The individual must invoke confidence in customers by maintaining professional dress and demeanor at all times.
The individual is accountable for his/her own performance.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) CPR (BLS) certification Upon Hire - required
ACLS ACLS certification Upon Hire - preferred
RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist Active NYS License up-to-date CE profile and is free of any disciplinary action Upon Hire - required
