Position Summary

The Residential Youth Support Worker is dedicated to providing essential care and support to children and adolescents in a group home environment. This role involves working collaboratively to create and implement personalized treatment plans, fostering a therapeutic atmosphere, and offering guidance and supervision to residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct care to residents by supervising daily routines, ensuring safety and security, and assisting with personal hygiene and self-care activities.
  • Engage in formulating and executing individualized treatment plans for each client, while documenting their progress and coordinating with treatment team members.
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment by applying positive behavior management strategies, establishing clear and consistent expectations, and promoting a sense of community among the residents.
  • Provide transportation for clients to necessary appointments and activities as required.
  • Facilitate and lead therapeutic and recreational group activities for clients.
  • Keep precise and current client records and documentation following the agency's policies and procedures.
  • Participate in mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Intervene in crises as necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Perform other responsibilities assigned by the Program Director.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • A high school diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field is preferred.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Previous experience working with children and adolescents, especially those facing emotional and behavioral difficulties, is essential.
  • Ability to maintain a therapeutic atmosphere and effectively manage challenging behaviors.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial.
  • Ability to work well within a team setting.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is required within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be able to pass background checks and drug screenings.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Employee must be capable of sitting and standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds. Travel within the community is necessary. The role is primarily office-based, with frequent travel to client homes and various community locations. Work hours may include evenings and weekends, as needed.

Compensation details: $15,000 to $20,000 Yearly Salary
