Job Description :

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident Worker to join an organization, which provides vital food, shelter, transitional housing, childcare, and support services to the homeless. This is a great opportunity for an individual who wants to get their foot in the door in human services. Responsibilities

  • Build meaningful relationships with homeless single adults in interim housing, fostering a supportive and secure environment.
  • Collaborate with a dynamic team to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the interim housing site-including assisting with food services and other essential tasks as needed.
  • Actively intervene during crises, utilizing strong de-escalation skills to keep both clients and staff safe.
  • Prepare accurate Incident Reports, shift logs, and other required documentation.
  • Conduct regular wellness checks, ensure residents are in their designated sections, and accompany them to appointments as needed.
  • Assist with food distribution, cleaning, and follow up on site culture and bed assignments to maintain a welcoming atmosphere.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience working with the homeless population or in a shelter setting (required).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to pass background check, TB skin test, have a valid CA driver's license, and reliable transportation.
  • Deep understanding of Harm Reduction and Housing First models of service delivery.
  • Strong listening skills, empathy, and the ability to communicate with sensitivity and respect.
