Resident Life Aide/CNA Training ProgramSt. Margaret's Center, an affiliate of Center for Disability Services, is a pediatric and young adult 94-bed skilled nursing facility, located in Albany, NY. Founded in 1883, St. Margaret's Center is askilled nursing facility serving medically fragile infants, children, and young adults on a single dedicated campus.   • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of related experience, specifically with providing care and recreational programs to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities for a Resident Life Aide:
  • Assists the Resident Life clinical team in providing therapeutic recreation programs while completing program to obtain certification for CNA. These experiences are designed to improve/maintain each residents cognitive, physical, social, and emotional functioning abilities.
  • Coordination and facilitation of individual and group recreation therapy sessions to residents as determined by resident life managers.
  • Coordination and facilitation of facility wide events as determined by resident life managers.
  • Ensures that all equipment and activity spaces remain in good, clean conditions.
  • Helps keep residents' rooms personalized and decorated according to their preference.
  • Resident mail delivery, as per New York State Department of Health guidelines
  • Reports any incidents to the Managers of Resident Life, Charge Nurse/unit manager and/or nursing supervisor and immediately fills out any necessary paperwork.
  • Uses program materials appropriately including but not limited to assistive technology devices and adaptive techniques such as switches and hand over hand assistance.
  • Actively participates in any staff development programs such as educational courses, workshops, and in services to increase awareness and skills.
  • Utilizes all safety measures for residents per care plan.
  • Utilizes knowledge of resident's health status and functional limitations when providing services
  • Assists with gathering necessary information for resident shopping and notifies the Resident Life Managers of any items needed for residents.
  • Daily documentation for services provided.
