Join us at the intersection of INGENUITY & INCLUSION About the Role Infrastructure Engineering Inc's (IEI) New York office is looking for an experiencedResident Engineer (RE) to join our Team! We are a multi-disciplinary Prime consulting firm that focuses on the delivery of design engineering, program management, and construction engineering and inspection services. We're civil engineers - a diverse and experienced team excited by project challenges that tap into our passion for solving problems. The Resident Engineer (RE) will be responsible for providing Resident Engineering Inspection Services on Jamaica Bay Greenway project in Brooklyn that includes Water Main, Sewer and Roadway Construction work amongst other aspects of Construction and Environmental Engineering. Also, as the RE on this project, you serve as the on-site representative of the program management team, responsible for overseeing daily construction activities, ensuring project compliance with design specifications, schedules, budgets, and safety standards.   • Act as the client's on-site representative during construction
  • Monitor daily construction activities for quality assurance and compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards
  • Coordinate with design engineers, construction contractors, inspectors, and program management staff
  • Conduct regular site inspections and lead field meetings with stakeholders
  • Review and approve contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, and progress payments
  • Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, logs, as-builts, and photographs
  • Identify and mitigate construction-related risks or delays; escalate critical issues when necessary
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and project-specific requirements
  • Participate in project meetings and prepare status reports for senior management and client stakeholders
  • Ensure environmental, permitting, and regulatory compliance on-site
To Be Successful
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited college.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction supervision or management of infrastructure projects specifically sewers, water mains and highways.
  • Familiarity with NYC DDC, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards
  • Strong knowledge of construction codes, safety regulations, and industry standards
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., NYCDDC PDMS System)
  • Proven skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams); and Adobe Acrobat
  • Detailed oriented and reliable, while demonstrating a high-level of interpersonal, diplomacy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of constituencies and diverse communities; address sensitive and complex questions; handle conflict; and manage various tasks.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Working Conditions:
  • IEI will provide a company vehicle for fieldwork with acceptable driver's record.
  • Must be physically capable of walking and moving about on the construction sites, have good hand-eye coordination, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or in-progress construction hazards: fumes, toxic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and vibration. Often works around dust, asphalt, and concrete.
  • Sometimes needs to put in extra hours, including weekends, to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents.
  • Spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports.
  • Usually works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime.
  • Usually works in outside weather conditions.
