Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in interviewing and hiring all direct care staff and other positions as directed.
  • Implement all agency and program-specific policies and procedures, recommending appropriate changes or additions.
  • Provide administrative and professional supervision of all direct care staff, utilizing the Interactional Supervision Model, including maintaining a supervisory log, meeting regularly with staff, and conducting annual evaluations.
  • Ensure staff receive required orientations, in-services, and resident-specific trainings.
  • Keep the Director informed of personnel issues, making recommendations for discipline or termination.
  • Develop and maintain weekly staff schedules, monitor overtime, and seek to minimize it.
  • Complete quarterly staffing reports and conduct staff meetings.
  • Communicate important information regarding residents, staff, and community interactions.
  • Oversee general maintenance of the house in collaboration with Facilities and Household Supervisors.
  • Participate in program development tailored to residents as part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Work with residents on their Program Plans, providing health and physical care, including medication administration.
  • Conduct shift observations, maintain logs, and complete documentation accurately using the PrecisionCare software.
  • Evaluate residents' self-preservation skills, schedule fire drills, and monitor emergency plans.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, handle emergencies, and coordinate with school/day service providers.
  • Manage agency spending within the operating budget, review receipts, and conduct petty cash balance checks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities, with a minimum of 2 years in an OPWDD-certified program.
  • Bachelor's degree in human services or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in English, including interpreting safety rules and policies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience.
Certifications and Trainings
  • NYS Medication Administration
  • SCIP-r
  • CPR
  • First Aid
  • Other mandated OPWDD trainings
