QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation; one year work experience in the area of student affairs; bachelor's degree preferred.JOB GOALS: To maintain an atmosphere in the residence halls that is conducive to living and learning. Assists in projects designed to enhance the quality of student life for residence hall students.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: One year contract serves at the pleasure of the President and the Board of Trustees.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. The residence center manager is responsible for the daily administration of the residence hall facilities, operations and programs.2. The residence center manager must take the initiative in establishing friendly personal and work relations with his/her co-workers.3. The residence center manager must treat all students fairly and should keep his/her mind open to new ideas and methods.4. At all times the residence center manager must respect the privacy of the students and should not reveal confidences to others.5. The residence center manager should be sincere, open minded, tolerant and flexible.6. A residence center manger must be objective in his/her attitude and approach to problems.7. The residence center manager must be committed to the educational process and helping students achieve the goals of the institution.8. A residence center manager must often deal with the unexpected and unusual.9. A residence center manager develops working relationships with other offices in the division including counseling center and programming.10. A residence center manager completes room assignments during scheduled prehousing.11. A residence center manager must attend bi-weekly staff meetings.12. A residence center manager attends conferences and workshops for professional growth and to represent the College.13. A resident center manager works closely with coordinators in the training of resident assistants and working students in the performance of their duties and leadership roles.14. A residence center manager works closely with the residence life director in making and filing various reports.15. A residence center manager must establish an environment within the hall that is friendly, pleasant and conducive to study and living.16. A residence center manager must greet guests, parents and other visitors and assist them in locating friends and relatives.17. Residence center managers serve as immediate supervisors for student staff workers and make periodic reports to the director of residence life regarding student staff worker performance.18. Residence center managers attempt to recognize signs of campus unrest and work to help residents understand the issues they encounter. All residence hall unrest must be reported to the director of residence life.19. A residence center manager must be able to interpret college regulations and housing procedures to hall residents.20. A residence center manager must secure the residence hall exit and entrance doors during the hours of his/her shift and record all incidents on the Daily Log.21. A residence center manager must demonstrate professional ethics in all situations.22. A residence center manager must request all leave in advance and report emergency leave from duty to the director of residence life.23. A residence center manager's leave must be approved by the director of residence life and the dean of student life prior to taking leave.24. Other responsibilities as assigned.
