The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Laboratory Medicine, is seeking a skilled Researcher Senior Lead to join their team. The Dutt Lab is located in a newly renovated, dedicated 800 sq. ft. research space within the Shelby Biomedical Research Building at the UAB, situated at the heart of one of the most vibrant biomedical research hubs in the Southeast. Our lab is fully equipped for immunological, molecular, and translational research and benefits from seamless access to cutting-edge institutional resources, including BSL-2 and Southeastern Biosafety Lab Alabama Birmingham (SEBLAB) having BSL-3 laboratories, ABSL-3 animal facility, high-parameter flow cytometry and cell sorting cores, and UAB's nationally recognized spatial omics and proteomics core facilities. These shared resources enable high-resolution, high-throughput analysis of tissue samples from both mouse models and human cohorts. Our lab culture is centered on intellectual curiosity, collaborative problem-solving, and scientific rigor. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, think critically, and thrive in a multidisciplinary environment that integrates experimental and computational approaches.General ResponsibilitiesAs a Researcher Senior Lead, you will be at the forefront of research leadership, guiding the overall research strategy and overseeing the execution of multiple high-impact projects. This emerging leader role demands exceptional expertise and visionary thinking, with responsibilities including securing major funding, influencing research policy, and driving innovation. You will lead large, interdisciplinary teams, ensuring the highest standards of scientific excellence and significantly impacting the field. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Experimental Research Data.
  • Generation High-Dimensional Computational Data Analysis.
  • Manuscript Grant Writing.
  • Collaboration, Team Integration, and student mentoring.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary Range : $63,875 - $103,800QualificationsDoctorate degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience OR Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.Preferences
  • Immunology, Microbiology, Infectious diseases, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in immunology and infectious disease biology, with a clear interest in dissecting host-pathogen interactions at the molecular and cellular levels.
  • Prior experience in B cell biology, tuberculosis or other intracellular pathogens, and mucosal immunology is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in core immunological techniques such as multicolor flow cytometry, ELISA, tissue sectioning and imaging, or in vivo mouse models is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with high-throughput data analysis, including single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, or computational immunology using R or Python, is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to drive projects forward, both toward high-quality publications and toward translational applications that can inform real-world therapies and diagnostics are essential for success in this role.
