Job Description and Position Requirements:

The Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) is seeking a Research Computing Facilitation Supervisor to manage research information systems and security services, supporting the computational needs of the SSRI research community. The role involves facilitating collaboration, overseeing programming and training, and supporting administrative data reporting to foster research innovation.

This position reports to the SSRI Research Operations Manager and collaborates closely with the Director and Unit Directors of SSRI.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage research information systems, ensuring security, compliance, and disaster recovery plans are up-to-date.
  • Analyze computational requirements, propose new projects, and research emerging technologies to meet faculty research needs.
  • Foster collaboration among university teams, sharing information and supporting data-related initiatives.
  • Suggest and oversee process improvements supporting SSRI operational reporting needs.
  • Coordinate project planning and resource utilization across SSRI units.
  • Ensure compliance with research data agreements.
  • Stay current with technological advancements and recommend upgrades.
  • Prepare RFPs and liaise with vendors.
  • Support budget monitoring and tracking in collaboration with the Research Operations Manager.
  • Lead and develop a team to ensure service excellence, including hiring, mentoring, and evaluating staff.
  • Education and Experience:

    A minimum of a bachelor's degree and 3+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination, is required. Additional education or experience may be necessary for higher-level roles. The candidate should possess:

    • Strong management, communication, and technical writing skills.
    • Knowledge of research information systems and computing environments.
    • Experience creating educational materials and presentations.
    • Proven ability to manage complex projects and teams.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

    The salary range is $76,700 - $129,500, depending on experience and qualifications.
