Job SummaryThe Hamdan Lab in the School of Ocean Science and Engineering at the University of Southern Mississippi seeks a research associate to support grant funded microbiome studies in the field and in laboratory settings. Work will focus on the study of aquatic microbial communities and their interaction with natural and anthropogenic features. Individuals with experience with microbiology, biogeochemistry, and molecular ecology are encouraged to apply.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesMasters degree from an accredited college or university in coastal or marine sciences, microbiology, chemistry, biogeochemistry, biology or a related OR a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in coastal or marine sciences, microbiology, chemistry, biogeochemistry, biology or a related field with one year of relevant laboratory experience.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExperience with molecular biology practices, bioinformatics, statistical analysis, programing, and field work.
