  • Write grant proposals to secure funding from federal and/or non-federal funding agencies, including NIH, NSF, DOD, and state funding agencies
  • Work with department and outside departmental collaborators to secure multi- investigator grants
  • Support tenured faculty in the conduct of their research.
  • Other duties as assigned by Department Chair
Location MURC - Marshall University Research Corporation Salary Range $40,000 Salary is commensurate with education, experience and internal equity Required Qualifications Education PhD in Biomedical Engineering or similarly related area ExperienceExperience should include:
  • Applying molecular biology techniques, including CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, RNA interference, and qPCR to investigate disease mechanisms and engineer cell-based models.
  • Skilled in manipulating human iPCS-derived cardiomyocytes and other systems to study cell signaling and metabolic regulation.
  • Experience in designing, optimizing, and validating high-throughput biochemical and cell-based essays, including ELISA, enzyme activity measurements, and reporter gene systems.
  • Have prior knowledge and experience in protein purification and molecular cloning to support diagnostic and therapeutic development.
  • Able to lead gene therapy studies targeting cardiomyopathy and muscular dystrophy, utilizing AAV vectors and miRNA delivery platforms.
  • Experience in developing disease-relevant models and validating therapeutic strategies through in vitro and in vivo systems.
  • Able to assist the department and lead 3D Culture & Disease Modeling.
  • Perform computational analysis of transcriptomic & proteomic data weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), pathway mapping, and use visualization tools to identify regulatory gene modules and disease biomarkers.
