The Mellon Initiative for Inclusive Faculty Excellence aims to increase demographic and intellectual diversity at the doctoral, post-doctoral, and professorship levels at the New School through intellectual community, mentorship, and professional development. The Mellon Initiative supports post-doctoral, faculty, dissertation, and community activist fellows developing research projects concerned with the ways structural inequality-intersecting structures of social, political, and economic power, especially seen through the lens of race and indigeneity-shape social and economic relations, culture, and daily life. The Mellon Initiative is seeking a highly motivated and socially engaged student Research Assistant who will aid the Mellon fellow cohort in conducting their individual research projects, as well as provide administrative support for the program as a whole.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* In coordination with the Assistant Program Director, provide support for the Mellon Initiative's communications efforts through a website and outreach emails.

* Assist with the preparation and coordination of initiative-related campus events and guest speakers.

* Attend the biweekly Transformative Seminar in person on campus on alternating Fridays from 2-4pm starting on September 8th, 2023.

* Provide some research support related to projects and professional development of Mellon fellow cohort.

* Write summaries of research as well as of events and meetings.

* Ability to meet for check-ins every 1-2 weeks to discuss progress of research and other duties.

WORK MODE

Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely.

COMPENSATION

$22.08/hour
