Research And Development Technician - Actalent : Job Details

We are seeking a Research And Development Technician to join our team in the Chicago, IL area. This role involves working closely with scientists to support multiple projects simultaneously. The technician will be responsible for weighing and mixing powders, preparing slurries for testing, and maintaining a clean and organized lab space. Additionally, the technician will update reports into an electronic lab notebook and work with small scale R&D equipment such as hot plates, stir plates, tube furnaces, and pH meters.

• Collaborate with senior scientists to support multiple research projects.
• Weigh and mix powders, and load them into the furnace.
• Prepare slurries for testing.
• Maintain a clean lab space, ensuring glassware, crucibles, and other equipment are properly cleaned.
• Organize lab samples using a naming and labeling system for efficient storage.
• Update reports in the electronic lab notebook.
• Operate small scale R&D equipment, including hot plates, stir plates, tube furnaces, and pH meters.

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Sciences.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a chemistry lab with exposure to various classes of hazards.
• Competence in sample preparation handling acids, bases, and solvents.
• Knowledge of research and development processes, including handling slurries, compressed gases, and gas cylinders.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Chicago,IL.
