Position Summary
The R&D Analyst plays a crucial role in the innovation lifecycle of beauty products. This position involves a blend of scientific research, data analysis, and project management to help develop new products, improve existing ones, and ensure they meet regulatory standards and consumer expectations. The role requires a combination of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and collaboration with various cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Research and Analysis:
Conduct research on new ingredients, technologies, and market trends to inform product development.
Design and execute experiments to test hypotheses related to product formulation, efficacy, and safety.
Analyze data from experiments and other sources (e.g., market data, consumer insights) to interpret results and draw conclusions.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders, outlining research findings and project progress.
Product Development and Support:
Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product developers to bring new product concepts to fruition.
Assist in the creation of product prototypes and models.
Contribute to the refinement and reformulation of existing products to enhance performance, sustainability, or cost-effectiveness.
Regulatory and Quality Assurance:
Gather and assemble technical and registration documentation to ensure products comply with legal regulations in various global markets.
Work with regulatory and legal teams to support product claims and ensure data integrity.
Implement quality control procedures and protocols to meet company standards.
Project and Business Management:
Assist in monitoring project progress, ensuring that milestones and timelines are met.
Serve as a liaison between the R&D department and other functions like marketing, supply chain, and IT.
Utilize data to support business decisions and strategic planning within the R&D organization.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree is required, with a focus on a life science field (e.g., chemistry, biology, or a related field) or engineering.
Experience:
Prior experience in a research or analytical role is preferred, 1-2 years or more.
Experience with project management or continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, Python) and statistical methods.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with industry-specific tools and technologies.
