Overview
The City of West Hollywood (WeHo) is seeking a Rent Stabilization Manager to lead the City\'s efforts to preserve the affordability, availability, and inclusiveness of housing.
Responsibilities
- Supervise thirteen full-time staff to deliver the regulatory functions that ensure fair and equitable treatment of tenants and landlords within the City\'s housing market.
- Manage the division\'s public counter, telephone line, mediation services, rent adjustment hearings, and the City\'s inclusionary housing waitlist.
- Lead initiatives to strengthen rent stabilization and affordability programs and processes.
- Staff the Rent Stabilization Commission and coordinate with the Commission and the City\'s legal counsel to safeguard housing rights while mitigating legal liabilities.
- Collaborate with the City Manager, the Executive team, the City Council, staff, and the broader community to develop and update housing policy, requiring familiarity with tenant regulatory requirements and policies.
- Represent the City as a member of various committees/teams; coordinate with others to maintain cooperative and efficient relations.
- Communicate effectively, actively listen, and diplomatically resolve conflicts, demonstrating strong leadership that fosters trust and collaboration.
Qualifications / Expectations
- Strong leadership and relationship-building abilities to serve as Rent Stabilization Manager.
- Familiarity with tenant regulatory requirements and policies.
- Ability to develop and update housing policy in collaboration with the City's leadership.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
