Remote Sensing Scientist

Key Role: Leverages advanced and specialized physics research expertise to test and analyze physical phenomena, conduct and shape research and development (R&D) programs, and to support S&T client challenges. Applies leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts, contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Works on unusually complex problems and provides highly innovative solutions. Operates with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision, mentors or supervises employees in both company and technical competencies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with sensor systems, including airborne, space-borne, or commercial systems
  • 5+ years of experience with remote sensor collection parameters or phenomenology and their impact on image processing, analysis, and exploitation
  • 5+ years of experience generating image processing algorithms using python or MATLAB
  • Knowledge of basic scientific focal plane array technology, including quantum efficiency, cross talk, or flux density, and persistent collection systems
  • Knowledge of sensor phenomenology, including spectral or thermal
  • Ability to work in a fast R&D environment and adapt to constant changes
  • Ability to deliver technical products with operational impact
  • Ability to write scientific code for clutter and noise mitigation, image reconstruction, compressive sensing, tracking, detection, feature extraction and classification, stereo, machine learning, signal processing, and radiometric calculations
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Physics, Remote Sensing, Image Science, Engineering, or Mathematics

Additional Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Intelligence Community
  • Knowledge of missile systems
  • Ability to work independently with a small team of scientists, engineers, and operations
  • Ability to create new ideas and run with them
  • Ability to develop new sensor systems, analytical techniques, or new applications for existing systems
  • Master's degree in Applied Physics, Remote Sensing, Image Science, Engineering, or Mathematics

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $112,800.00 to $257,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
