Reliability Engineer

Position Overview:
The Reliability Engineer is a key contributor to the Maintenance Department, responsible for enhancing the safety, reliability, and performance of equipment and systems in a challenging industrial setting. This role focuses on improving electrical systems and processes, particularly in environments involving high voltage systems and underground operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and analyze chronic equipment failures, identifying permanent solutions to minimize downtime.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies that maximize equipment performance and lifecycle efficiency, particularly for electrical infrastructure.
- Lead or support the supervision of contractors and service personnel, ensuring adherence to all safety and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate equipment specifications and system performance to identify and implement improvements in electrical design and process efficiency.
- Determine the feasibility of new installations or upgrades involving high voltage systems, balancing technical, economic, and spatial considerations.
- Design or modify facility and equipment layouts using CAD tools, focusing on electrical systems integration in both surface and underground environments.
- Manage capital and expense projects from concept through execution, including budgeting, vendor selection, oversight, and project closure.
- Collaborate with operations and technical teams to identify improvement opportunities in electrical reliability and system design.
- Analyze performance data and maintenance records to establish and refine preventive and predictive maintenance programs, especially for critical electrical assets.
- Research and apply industry advancements and best practices in electrical reliability engineering.
- Assist in the development and rollout of electrical safety programs and standards in alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain readiness to work safely in underground environments, conducting inspections, assessments, and modifications as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial)
- 5–10 years of engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems
- Proven experience with high voltage electrical systems (up to 1200 volts)
- Hands-on field experience and comfort working in underground or confined space environments
- Reliability Certification (preferred)
- Experience with CMMS platforms (preferred)
- Strong understanding of materials handling, process systems, and underground infrastructure (preferred)
