Relay Technician Insight Energy Careers has been retained to fill this role on behalf of a nationally recognized full-service, EPC, specialty engineering, procurement, construction, and testing and commissioning company specializing in complex medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure across North America. Job Summary: The Relay Technician position entails providing field service for relay panel and protective control systems. Responsibilities:
- Installing, commissioning, testing, and maintaining protective relaying equipment, relaying schemes, DFR equipment, SCADA systems, distribution automation systems, and associated communication equipment.
- Collaborating with electrical engineers to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
- Conducting function testing of substation control circuits on relay panels, transformers, and circuit breaker changeouts.
- Performing end-to-end relay testing using Doble ProTesT software to verify carrier and fiber systems.
- Assisting in developing written standard commissioning, testing, and maintenance procedures for protective relaying, DFRs, RTUs, IEDs, Distribution Automation, and associated communication systems.
- Onsite project management, maintaining effective relationships with customers and vendors.
- Testing and performing other electrical maintenance activities within the plant environment as directed.
Requirements: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Ability to pass pre-employment and periodic random drug tests.
- Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.
- Availability for regular overtime work.
- Capability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, and fly domestically, with or without reasonable accommodations. Must pass a fit-for-duty physical exam.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a good driving record.
