Animal Dermatology Clinic - San Diego is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. We are looking for someone with the following qualities:

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate excellent relations with clients and pets in waiting areas and exam rooms
  • Exceed client expectations of service
  • Provide compassionate nursing care as a top priority for all patients
  • Housekeeping/maintenance
  • Perform cursory examinations of animals and recognize potential issues
  • Clearly communicate findings to a doctor
  • Record keeping
  • Fill prescriptions and dispense medications as prescribed by the doctor
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of experience including intubation/anesthesia
  • Friendly, outgoing, and people-oriented
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Capable of being cross-trained for front office duties; telephone and computer skills are necessary
  • Team player willing to learn new techniques and adapt to change
Medical Skills
  • Phlebotomy
  • IV catheter placement
  • Preparing and restraining animals during procedures
  • Anesthetic induction and monitoring
  • Assisting in surgery
  • Suturing cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues
  • Applying bandages and/or splints
  • Wound care
  • Using a stethoscope and otoscope
  • Advising pet owners on proper care
Education and Physical Requirements
  • College or college-equivalent education required to become a Registered Veterinary Technician
  • Dependable attendance is required
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure
  • Ability to walk, bend, stand, squat, or reach constantly during an 8-hour day

Salary: $24.50 - $32.75 / hour DOE + $1,000 sign-on bonus
