Telemetry Med-Surg - 2600

The 2600 unit is a stroke certified, telemetry medical surgical unit. This 27-bed unit primarily cares for cardiac patients requiring telemetry monitoring, along with a diverse range of general medical conditions. Our nurses gain invaluable experience and develop a strong skill set that enhances their careers in the acute care environment. We are also piloting an innovative virtual nursing program on this unit, where one nurse operates from a virtual hub, supporting six nurses who provide direct patient care. Our virtual nurse collaborates with bedside staff, pharmacy, and social work to ensure top-quality patient care. After a minimum of six months in this unit, RNs may transition to the virtual nursing role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients, utilizing relevant data.
• Communicate and document assessments with the interdisciplinary team to meet patient needs.
• Develop and document individualized plans of care that address patient goals and limitations.
• Adhere to organizational policies and protocols, including those for safety and medication administration.
• Continuously revise care plans based on evaluations and update documentation accordingly.
• Complete at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form annually utilizing recent research.
• Engage in continuing education, achieving a minimum of five nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year.
• Complete mandatory training and health screenings promptly.
• Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing.
• Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• At least 6 months of experience in a similar setting preferred.

AS: Nursing (Required)

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly; requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
