Crouse's Surgical Center/Operating Room (OR) team is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) – Holding Area to provide care for patients of all ages receiving inpatient or outpatient surgeries and endoscopic procedures with anesthesia.

Pay Range: $39.00 - $50.00/hour.

up to $20,000 sign-on bonus for experienced RNs!

Available Schedule(s):

  • Full time, 10 hour shifts - 7:00am-5:30pm and other shifts as needed

Registered Nurse (RN) Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides professional judgment and knowledge of roles as it pertains to the Crouse Hospital Professional Nursing Practice Model.

  • Carries out duties and responsibilities per legal requirements under the Registered Nurse Scope of Practice, with emphasis on leading a culture of safe care.

  • Responsible for all activities requiring assessment, planning, diagnosing, evaluating, judgment, problem-solving, creating and implementing the plan of care.

  • Provides appropriate education to patients and families to promote health, facilitate rehabilitation and maintain wellness. Evaluates effectiveness and revises as appropriate.

  • Monitors and evaluates patient responses to treatment/plan of care during hospital stay.

  • Utilizes and engages in evidence-based practice to deliver quality patient care.

  • Demonstrates characteristics and skills that promote critical thinking in clinical problem-solving situations.

RN Holding Area

  • In addition to performing regular RN professional responsibilities, this individual will assist the team leader of service with daily assignments and staffing levels within the Holding Area. Works in tandem with the WSC Supervisors, turnover Team Leader to coordinate transporting of patients/equipment, and turning rooms over.

  • Maintain par levels of non-charge drugs and I.V. solutions. Performs audits to identify needed improvement with assessment of patients pre-op and regulatory agency requirements.

  • Coordinates the flow and direction of patient's families. Performs the role of the liaison for families of the WSC and the guest center.

  • Communicates with pre-op nursing units; assimilates any necessary patient information from nursing units and takes action as appropriate.

  • Facilitates the preparation of the side/side cases.

  • Participates in the efficiency of case turnovers by initiating patient interviews, administration of pre-op medications, and ensuring chart completeness.

  • Coordinates the timing of the Surgeon, AD, and circulating RN for an organized and timely pre-op interview.

Registered Nurse (RN) Position Requirements:

  • Must have a current Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing degree program required.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing preferred.

  • For RNs licensed in or after 2017, completion of a Bachelor's of Nursing Degree will be required within 8 years of the date the license was obtained.

  • Two (2) years of operating room or Surgical Nursing experience

  • Certification in a specialty area preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
