The Registered Nurse (RN) reports directly to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor.

The RN is responsible for delivering both direct and indirect patient care in the perioperative setting, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This includes care for patients across the lifespan: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and older adults.

Responsibilities

The RN collaborates closely with the surgical team—including the surgeon and anesthesiologist—to coordinate patient care. They also supervise and guide OR Technicians and other support personnel, ensuring professional nursing standards are upheld.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care throughout the perioperative experience

• Promoting seamless care coordination across departments to support continuity of care

• Maintaining compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards

• Actively participating in unit-based Performance Improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and ongoing education

• Serving as a resource and mentor to peers and support staff as appropriate

The RN plays a vital role in sustaining a culture of excellence, safety, and collaboration within the surgical services department.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $35.35 to $53.58. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
