Job Description :
Summary of Need: Registered Nurses will assist and directs nursing care. Delegates appropriate nursing functions to paraprofessional staff. Participates in the treatment planning process. Ensure that patients' rights are supported. Provides direct patient care. Initiates patient care assessments. Uses Nursing Process to develop patient care plans. Assists with medication administration. Ensures appropriate documentation is completed per policy. Follows all nursing policies and procedures. Acts as a member of the Treatment Team. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Carries out routine tasks and procedures such as Activities of Daily Living.
  • Measures and records temperatures, pulses, respiration, blood pressure, heights, weights, intake and output and others as determined by policy.
  • Reports observations and pertinent communications with patients to the nurse in a timely manner.
  • Prepare patients for meals and assists when indicated.
  • Assists with lifting, positioning, moving, and ambulating patients.
  • Prepare patient for transport by wheelchair, stretcher, or on foot as directed by the nurse.
  • Assists with patient examinations, for example, physical exam.
  • Maintains patient safety, privacy and confidentiality at all times. Provides attention to patients requiring constant observation.
  • Provide direct patient care and oversight of care provided.
  • Medication administration.
  • Transcription of orders.
  • Will be responsible for completing documentation audits and following up with staff and nursing supervisors on all deficiencies for patients on their assigned. unit.
Qualifications:
  • License and current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse in NYS.
  • Current BLS/CPR card.
  • At least one year of experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Candidates must abide by the facility time and attendance guidelines including time off procedures.
  • The Contractor will need to complete requirements prior to commencing work. The selected vendor must agree to a Business Associate Agreement prior to the award.
  • Highly motivated, independent thinker and self-starter.
  • Enthusiastic team player.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects. Strong follow-up and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills. (Word processing, office scheduling, familiar with Windows).
  • Familiarity with NYS Quality Management and Nursing Administration.
  • Candidates will be given increased consideration if they have experience in Joint Commission Accreditation, Infection Control, Quality Management and have been employed in a NYS OMH facility.
Shift: Part-Time/Various Shifts Times - 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm, and 10pm to 6am. Contract Length: Up to 2 years.
