Role Specifics We are excited to offer a casual opportunity for a Registered Nurse at the Rio Tinto on-site medical clinic in Kitimat, B.C You will join a dynamic, four-person healthcare team,supported by our on-call physicians, allied health providers, and Iridia's operational support team We offer a competitive wage for the position, which is Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:00 with no weekends. The role requires candidates to be spirometry and audiometry trained. Local candidates will be given preference, though those interested in a fly-in/fly-out role are also welcome to apply.This role offers a unique chance to practice in an industrial setting, contribute to workplace health innovation, and be part of a team that values excellence, collaboration, and the delivery of exceptional care. Key Responsibilities:
- Performs pre-employment and surveillance medicals including scheduling/coordination and tracking of medical appointments, and other health care services as directed.
- Required to be trained and certified in performing audiometric exam (compliant with WorkSafeBC requirements), hearing protection fit testing, spirometry, respiratory fit testing, administration of vaccinations.
- Supports the lead occupational health nurse with case administration.
- Assists the site occupational health team with occupational illness and injury claims and follow-up evaluations.
- Consults and educates workers and leaders on fitness for work requirements; including identifying and escalating health concerns found through performance of periodic medicals.
- Works with HSE Department on wellness initiatives & health education.
- Charts patient interactions within an EMR
- Health administrative tasks to ensure clinic efficiency including but not limited to; Assist with medical filing and entry of medical documentation into Cority, scheduling etc.
- Attend health-related meetings as directed.
- Other health care services as directed to meet the operational needs of the site
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid British Columbia Registration
- 2 years of industrial camp, emergency or primary care experience
- Spirometry and audiometry training required.
- Valid Advanced First Aid (OFAIII) Certificate preferred.
- Willing to gain the necessary knowledge and understanding of WorkSafe BC Regulations, BC Health Act, and OSHA recordability.
- Willing to gain a working knowledge and application of Canada Labour Code, Human Rights of BC, Privacy Act (PIPA/PIPEDA), Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Ability to support managers and supervisors on attendance, accommodation, and disability management-related issues.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage the day-to-day operations within an everchanging work environment.
- Conflict resolution experience and ability to persuade or influence individuals to change.
- Basic computer skills required for correct record keeping and document processes.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical charting systems.
